By now, you would think the NCAA would have brought an experienced antitrust lawyer in-house. The 15-day transfer portal was already extremely vulnerable under the Sherman Act. It now seems the NCAA is turning a blind eye to its antitrust exposure when it does things like this.

The NCAA’s attempt to defend its rule of restitution in appellate courts, with the aim of then punishing schools that play players who are successful in getting NCAA eligibility rules enjoined, is grasping at straws.
It is on brand though.

The NCAA suddenly deciding that they actually want to defend the Rule of Restitution -- in the Ninth Circuit of all places! -- is just a terrible, terrible idea. There's a reason why they haven't defended it in appeals until now. This is what judges think about it.

@TomMarsLaw I don’t recall seeing whether the NCAA asked Judge Whitwell to recuse himself. Truth is, Whitwell is an honorable man and is extremely knowledgeable about the law and takes his job very seriously.

Trinidad Chambliss is in a position where if he keeps fighting this, he risks going day three and possibly undrafted. I'm already alarmed by how much he doesn't want to be in the NFL. He's missed the Senior Bowl, doesn't have a Combine invite. He's almost ruined the process.
