Yuku really is an excellent alternative to Babel—it seems to be the only native parser that also provides a JavaScript transform API. About a month ago, I replaced both esbuild and Babel with it in rsbuild-react-router github.com/rstackjs/rsbui… and saw a huge performance improvement. I also built yuku-loader github.com/hardfist/yuku-… as an optional alternative to babel-loader and swc-loader, and even experimented with porting Yuku to Rust. The only tricky part is designing an ergonomic Rust transform API for it—especially one that supports in-place mutation cleanly.

The JS ecosystem already has many excellent globally installed CLIs, like Nub, pnpm, Turborepo, Nx, and others. We designed the Rstack CLI to be a project-local tool that brings the Rstack tools together, so it can complement the existing ecosystem instead of replacing it.

We discovered a highly dangerous new attack vector in the Rspack repository. An attacker may reply to an issue claiming that they encountered a similar problem and provide a “reproduction” project, such as this example: #issuecomment-4911773443" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">github.com/web-infra-dev/… However, the reproduction project itself may contain malicious code. This means that if you use an AI agent to fix the issue, the agent may clone the project from the issue and execute it. For example, if the attack payload is hidden in an install or postinstall script of one of the project’s dependencies, the environment could be compromised as soon as the agent runs the install command. 🤡

🦀 Rslint now has a JavaScript API Use `@rslint/core` to lint files with the same engine behind the Rslint CLI. Useful for editors, codemods, custom checks, and migration.

This is a very clever architecture. We use a similar approach in Rspack by running CPU-bound tasks directly on Tokio. We don’t even need a separate I/O runtime, because the priority in compiler workloads is maximizing CPU utilization, not minimizing I/O latency. One of the reasons we chose Tokio over Rayon is that Rspack exposes a large number of JavaScript hooks. These hooks are asynchronous and are frequently interleaved with CPU-bound work, so keeping everything on the same runtime greatly simplifies the execution model. The discussion in github.com/tokio-rs/tokio… is excellent. I’d also love to see Tokio provide more Rayon-like APIs (such as par_iter) to make scheduling CPU-bound workloads more ergonomic.

Looking back, I'm really glad I chose Rspack as the foundation for Lynx's tooling. It turned out to be absolutely the right call! Our next step is to let Lynx apps build directly with Rsbuild and eventually sunset the Rspeedy layer.

🥱 Tired of broken anchor links in your docs? Rspress now supports anchor validation for Markdown links. Enable `link.checkAnchors` option to catch broken anchors during `rspress build`. 🦀
