Life is good! We’re enjoying retirement and spending time with family & friends. And yes, I still care about good public policy.

Regulatory capture is a form of government failure that happens when state agencies tasked with acting in the public interest, instead prioritize the interests of the industries they were meant to regulate. Michigan’s three member Public Service Commission frequently fails to act in the public interest‼️

Democratic state Rep. Donovan McKinney and other lawmakers pleaded with state regulators Thursday to find a way to freeze or lower utility rates across the state, with McKinney arguing the costs are bankrupting residents in his House district. detroitnews.com/story/news/pol…

No one respects a watchdog that doesn’t bite‼️Increased legislative oversight of the secretive & corrupt MEDC and other ineffective state agencies is nice, but where are consequences & real accountability for waste, fraud & abuse of hundreds of millions in state tax $$$⁉️

Michigan House leadership held hearings in early March to review $911 million of legislators’ district grant requests — a new process that gives closer attention to legislatively directed spending, often referred to as earmarks or pork projects. michigancapitolconfidential.com/news/michigan-…

Another day. Another study showing states with no tax on work taking people and wealth from Michigan. The first step to stopping our state’s decline is completely eliminating the income tax! Time to be bold to save our state.
Stephen Moore@StephenMoore

New IRS domestic migration data shows tens of billions of dollars continuing to move into low-tax states.  From 2022 to 2023, the largest net income gains came at the expense of high-tax states losing residents, income, and opportunity.  Americans are voting with their feet!

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer recommends a series of tax hikes in her executive budget, spending that would boost state outlays beyond sustainable levels. The governor recommends a 4% increase in the state budget, not counting federal transfers. mackinac.org/blog/2026/keep…

This morning at PIT, so many TSA employees expressed their appreciation for standing with them and shared their financial hardship. End this ridiculous DHS shutdown NOW. Pay these hardworking TSA agents and all DHS employees who collectively keep our country more secure.

Co-sign this. What else to describe a regime that tortures and publicly hangs teenagers for wanting democracy for their country?

Heading to vote, and I will remain the only Democrat that refuses to shut our government down. Pay TSA agents. Reopen DHS.

My 9 year old and I were talking about taxes while we were out shopping. I told him taxes help pay for things like roads and basic services. He looked at me and said, “Then why are the roads so bad here in Michigan? Sounds like they’re not doing their job… so why should we pay?” Out of the mouths of kids.

That’s a bold statement for someone that ignores subpoenas and has to be dragged into court in order to release basic election data. She’s been the LEAST transparent SOS in Michigan history.
Craig Mauger@CraigDMauger

Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson said if she's elected governor, she'll pursue sweeping changes to Michigan's transparency standards by making more government documents available for disclosure and banning secret spending aimed at influencing elections. detroitnews.com/story/news/pol…

This is incredibly generous. TSA agents across the country are relying on food pantries and community donations just to get by. I remain the lone Dem to vote with my Republican colleagues to fully fund DHS and get people paid. It should never come to this point.
Elon Musk@elonmusk

I would like to offer to pay the salaries of TSA personnel during this funding impasse that is negatively affecting the lives of so many Americans at airports throughout the country

I’ve protected the Second Amendment as your Attorney General, as a Marine, and as a homicide prosecutor. Nearly 60% of states - including the SAFEST - across our country have enacted some form of Constitutional Carry, but Michigan isn’t one of them. When I’m Governor, we’ll pass Constitutional Carry, and eliminate registrations fees, making it easier for lawful gun owners to exercise your Second Amendment rights. And to Make Michigan SAFE Again

Our State Constitution is clear: Michigan has three separate & equal branches of government: Legislative; Executive; & Judicial. State lawmakers have a duty serve the public, not bureaucrats or private interests‼️The 27 lawmakers who recklessly signed government secrecy pledges should: Rescind the NDAs. Resign from office. Or be voted out of office in Aug or Nov‼️

Is your State Rep or State Senator one of 27 current Michigan lawmakers named in this DN Opinion who violated their Constitutional oath of office to serve the public by signing secrecy pledges (Non-Disclosure Agreements)⁉️
