Long-reads are a relic from the past century. Trying to keep the tradition of #LongStory alive in the age of Reels, X/Tweets and SMS is not an easy task. Glad to have been part of this @livemint story, done with original research and efforts by @samikshagoel20

The building in the smog is Camillias in Gurgaon, where air quality is officially poison. The flats cost 60 to 100 crore. There is something funny about that though I can’t put my finger on what exactly.

VIDEO | Colombia: Here’s what Kalpana Balakrishnan, Director, World Health Organisation Collaborating Center for Occupational & Environmental Health, said: “What we now understand is that if the economic barrier can be overcome, the transition can happen in less than five years. It would be interesting to see what development assistance programs are considering. The World Bank has just released a flagship report, and I understand that there are many details about their investments in household energy. Ignoring household air pollution is not a sensible approach for India or any other low- and middle-income country.” (Full video available on PTI Videos - ptivideos.com)

Sanjay Ravidas was crushed under a car last night, March 21, at Mahipalpur in Delhi, neat the D2 building and red light under the flyover. The car sped away. The @DelhiPolice was efficient and found our number on his person. They asked us to help contact his family. This at least saved him from being one of the many unclaimed bodies in Delhi. Sanjay worked with Chintan in our multi-year Zero waste initiative at @iitdelhi but the new contractor refused to take him in as he as on leave the day they took over. From then onwards, he was forced to scavenge for scraps of waste to sell. This made him more prone to road accidents. @ChintanIndia will work w @DelhiPolice to identify the killer. You can’t just run over people and go off as if there is no rule of law. If anyone saw this accident pls let me know. Pls retweet for wider reach.

Decades later, I still carry that lesson: Dignity > judgment. Never mock someone’s hustle. Behind every “no” you say, there’s someone just trying to make ends meet. I remember numerous lessons that my father has taught everytime he is hospitalised. I know how life is !

I was ~8, when one very hot summer day (40 deg +), a door to door salesman knocked our door selling (I vaguely recall), books. I remember engaging with him for 15 minutes before declaring i wont buy anything and laughing it off..essentially dismissing his effort as a joke..[1]
