Can’t really comment on if Griffin is truly “ready”. Have barely seen him. Would have been something not seen since Griffey Jr. No TripleA games. I want to see him of course, but that’s all fair.
That said-not having a better SS alternative than NickG makes it a kick in the gut

In Miami….after seeing the vids from the DR game there tonight….and their lineup - this could be an all time must watch baseball game. Don’t blow it against Canada.

I know he can be nasty but Nicolas’ lack of command was just really tough for me to get over, hard to forget that Skenes debut game. Don’t mind dealing him for something interesting. Unexpected though.

@C_M_F_87 I guess I’m more in believe it when I see it mode when it comes to Horwitz playing second. I know he did a bit in TOR but feels like that will just be sacrificing D in a different way

@rtjr I would start Lowe in LF, Horwitz at 2B, and O'Hearn at 1B, that's the best lineup out of terrible options. O'Hearn is dreadful in the OF and very good at 1B, so I'd leave him at 1B. Lowe has needed to move to the OF (or 1B) for 2 years now. Horwitz would be an adventure lol.

Idk man. Purely as a bat, he’s fine, but I don’t see how anyone can call him a good fit for this roster. Any day that he, O’Hearn, and Horwitz are all in the lineup, O’Hearn will have to play OF which is not ideal.

This will have ramifications for Paul Skenes, but not for a bit. Here's what Skubal made in arbitration:
- 2024 (ARB1): $2.65 mil
- 2025 (ARB2): $10.15 mil
- 2026 (ARB3): $32 mil
Skenes will likely earn more, but not dramatically so. He reaches ARB1 in 2027, ARB3 in 2029.

I was not even really a huge Suarez advocate - strikeouts, age, defense, ballpark fit all concerns. But he was the most (and really only) obvious fit left. And instead goes at a way more reasonable price than anyone anticipated - to a rival. Ouch.

Pirates offered the same AAV for Suarez as what he signed for with the Reds (and were willing to go higher), according to a source. Sounds like Suarez chose a more favorable ballpark and familiarity with Cincy for a prove-it deal
