I want to tell you all the stories behind them — that way, you'll be able to see the world through my eyes... Heh, looks like Lumi can't wait any longer. Come with me! I promise you won't be disappointed.

Remembering a true legend, and a hero 🕊️ Some creators leave behind a story. Kazuki Takahashi left behind a world. The creator of Yu-Gi-Oh! didn’t just make a manga, he helped shape an entire generation of anime fans, collectors, duelists, and card game communities across the world. First launched in Weekly Shōnen Jump in 1996, Yu-Gi-Oh! grew from the story of Yugi Mutou and the Millennium Puzzle into a global franchise spanning manga, anime, films, video games, and one of the most successful trading card games ever created. The Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG has sold over 25 billion cards and is played in more than 80 countries. His final act made his legacy even more powerful. In July 2022, Takahashi entered dangerous waters in Okinawa to help during a rescue after a woman, her daughter, and a U.S. soldier were caught in a rip current. Witness accounts said he went in to assist and later disappeared beneath the waves. He gave the world heroes on the page, and in the end, he acted like one himself. Rest in peace, Kazuki Takahashi. Your cards, your stories, and your impact will never be forgotten.

Happy 65th birthday to Hideaki Anno, one of the most influential creators in anime history. 🎉 From redefining psychological storytelling in anime to helping shape modern otaku culture, Anno’s impact on the industry is impossible to ignore. Before becoming the creator of Neon Genesis Evangelion, Anno worked as a key animator on Hayao Miyazaki’s Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, where his incredible animation for the God Warrior sequence became legendary inside the industry. His work there helped launch his career and built his connection with Studio Ghibli creators. He also contributed to Studio Ghibli-related productions and remained closely connected with Miyazaki and Toshio Suzuki throughout his career. Years later, Miyazaki even personally chose Anno to voice Jiro Horikoshi (the protagonist) in The Wind Rises. Anno later co-founded Studio Gainax and directed iconic works including Gunbuster, Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water, and eventually Neon Genesis Evangelion, the series that changed anime forever. When Evangelion aired in 1995, it pushed TV anime into darker, more introspective territory. Its themes of loneliness, trauma, identity, and human connection deeply resonated with audiences and influenced an entire generation of creators. His directing style became famous for experimental visuals, psychological dialogue, symbolic imagery, and cinematic framing that many anime still imitate today. Beyond anime, Anno expanded into live-action filmmaking through Studio Khara and the “Shin” film projects, directing Shin Godzilla and Shin Kamen Rider while continuing to leave a massive mark on Japanese pop culture. Few creators have shaped anime history across as many eras as Hideaki Anno 🙌

Mojo Jojo was technically Professor Utonium’s first son 🥺 Roger L. Jackson, the voice of Mojo Jojo in The Powerpuff Girls, shared an emotional tribute following the passing of Tom Kane, the voice of Professor Utonium. In the series, Mojo Jojo actually has a deep connection to Professor Utonium, before becoming the iconic villain, he was the Professor’s lab assistant monkey named Jojo. Because Jojo lived with Professor Utonium before the Powerpuff Girls were created, many fans jokingly refer to him as the Professor’s “first son” before Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup were born 🥺 After Tom Kane’s passing, Roger L. Jackson wrote: “He was a gentleman and a gentle man. Always kind, & open. A pleasure to work with, a privilege to know.” His message reflects not only the bond between their characters in the show, but also the respect and friendship they shared behind the scenes. For many fans, it feels like Mojo Jojo saying goodbye to Professor Utonium one last time 💔
