BREAKING: There is major relief in Greece after it was confirmed that the F-16C involved in the emergency belly landing at Zakynthos International Airport was a Block 52+ aircraft belonging to 337 Mira at Larissa, not a modernized Block 72. The aircraft is repairable and is expected to undergo repairs during its planned modernization. It had already been scheduled for modernization by Hellenic Aerospace Industries in 2027, and the necessary repair work can now be incorporated into that process. Thanks to the presence of the pylon for the centerline external fuel tank, together with the inboard and outboard pylons, the aircraft avoided severe structural damage during the belly landing. The subsequent fire damaged several components, but those parts can be repaired or replaced during the upcoming modernization. Credit: Papakia Mantola #HellenicAirForce
