Congratulations to our Chair, Gwyn Jones, who has been awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) for services to animal health and welfare in the King’s New Years Honours List. He was the inspiration and instigator behind the founding of RUMA CA&E, recognising that there was a need to co-ordinate and focus effort and resource, beyond farming and agriculture, on the important issue of AMR and the responsible use of medicines across the companion animal and equine sector too. Tomorrow we will be at @BritishVets #LondonVetShow speaking in the @Zoetis Learning Academy at 11.45 am on the topic of: Antibiotics and parasiticides - what does the future hold for stewardship? We will talk more about the national AMU targets for the canine and feline sectors and the work currently underway to support the profession to achieve those targets, plus will share an update on the #AnimalMedicinesAmnesty sponsored by @zoetis. Great to see the launch of this survey from @vmdgovuk which will help gather feedback on how pet owners use and dispose of flea and tick treatments. If you work directly with pet owners please encourage them to provide feedback which will help build an evidence base for future action to protect both pets and the environment.
