@tessahankinson Yes I’m finding this so hard too… I think there’s an amazing group on Facebook called ostomate athletes… or something to that effect. @runfitsarah is an absolute don!! I’ve found her advice / videos recently and I’m sure she’ll be able to help xx

@CancerInsider It is specific for womb cancer on this occasion. But please reach out to me and I can signpost you to resources for ostomy which is my professional speciality.

@runfitsarah Is this specific to post womb surgery or would this also apply to those who have recently had ostomy surgery?

@Ultra_Damo @treesnottees Husband LOVED the book... lots of sighing from his side of the bed when reading it. He says he's never buying anything ever again. We'll be running barefoot and naked! Fantastic job bringing awareness to this topic. Next in line in my book pile :)

This is a special stoma toilet! Never seen one before in my life. Situated in the world class @Convatec clinic in Sao Paulo. *its so you can stand and empty your bag into the loo. Utter genius.🙌

Absolutley LOVED having the opportunity to talk stomas, health and exercise on the brilliant @rad__chat pod. Have a listen to me talking about my favourite topic! Could have chatted all day. Thanks for having me x

Huge fan of @runfitsarah and all the amazing work she is doing around #prehabilitatuon and #rehabilitation and demystifying exercise with a #stoma. Check it out on all #podcasting libraries and consider doing the CPD posted alongside it. @Naman_Julka @rad__chat

@TracyAllenDCHS @louisehelenhunt Thanks Tracy that's really interesting.. I do feel we need to do more of that. If hernia is considered 'inevitable' we can learn to accept and manage it. I like that approach.

@runfitsarah @louisehelenhunt Being consented for my surgery - Registrar reminded my consultant that he’d forgotten to include hernia as a complication. Response was that ‘its basically inevitable’. While a bit worrying at the time, has helped me come to terms with the chance of it happening.

Stoma/ostomy friends pls RT. Research ahead of a talk on parastomal hernia. Tell me about your hernia and how you feel about it. If you have a hernia do you feel shame? judgement? guilt? embarrassment? that you did something wrong? or none of those things.. tell me more 🙏

@runfitsarah All of what you said I also hate leaving the house as having to wear jumpers in the summer to hide the bulge,it is embarrassing and affecting my mental health, am I vain? No I just want to look normal and feel that little bit normal for once, it restricts intamacy and bending too

@glitterykisses @CuhStoma 😪 it's so hard isn't it. I'm hearing so many stories of people who feel the same. I don't know what the answer is really. Just so sorry you're having to deal with it😪

@runfitsarah @CuhStoma Confidence wise, I’ve found it really tough. I went abroad in June & was absolutely paranoid as it was so obvious in all of my summer clothes! 😢 I’ve had my stoma for 2.5 years & I’ve had the hernia for around a year ~ but I’d definitely say it’s become more prominent recently.

@runfitsarah Hernia's are usually caused by over exertion or just general wear and tear and are in the majority of cases easily repaired, indeed many top athletes suffer hernia's during their careers.
