Jovan Malcolm had his leg badly injured by a horrendous tackle this weekend and Ross Joyce doesn’t even call it a foul. He’s an awful referee, who can’t cut it in the National League, never mind in the EFL. I hope Jovan can return to the sport as soon as possible. Awful to see.

It’s still all to play for & I’d love to be wrong, but Gateshead don’t look like a side that’ll stay up this season. Individual performances are being called out and rightly so, but the team as a unit make far too many sloppy turnovers. I won’t even mention the defending either

I’ve been thinking about this quite a bit today and I think that last night’s result was one of the best counter attacking performances I’ve seen in a while. Rob got a lot of it right in a difficult match and situation. Chapman was tremendous too.

Can only imagine that they’re raising money to afford his contract, as opposed to a transfer fee. He joined Gateshead for nothing months ago, which is precisely exactly what he’s contributed on the pitch since.

I’ve just heard news that Eddie Beach is returning to Gateshead from Kilmarnock, presumably on loan. Beach joined Killie in the summer and has played three times, conceding ten goals in those matches. #WorClub

As things stand, Gateshead are now nine points adrift of safety, with a solitary game in hand. The pressure just got that little bit higher for February’s fixtures. It’s going to take a monumental effort to stay up, especially with a few teams having built up some form lately.

I’m seeing a few people mention that Jameson has been recalled. Logic would dictate that he has been, which would strongly hint that Brooks is getting his heavily rumoured move to a football league side. Great signing for Darlo either way.

🧤 NEW SIGNING | Rory Watson 🧤 Darlington have today signed goalkeeper Rory Watson from York City on loan for the rest of the season. The 29-year-old began his career at Hull City and brings plenty of experience, with spells at Gainsborough, North Ferriby, Scunthorpe, Wrexham, Doncaster and York. Rory has featured 14 times for York this season and also spent time on loan at Scunthorpe, making nine appearances. York City have granted permission for Rory to represent us in the play-offs should we reach them. We’d like to thank York City for their cooperation and wish Rory all the best during his time with us 🤝

Big move for Brooks. Not convinced in the slightest that he’s league one ready, but it’s an opportunity nonetheless. He’s a solid keeper, but wasn’t indispensable. Hopefully a decent fee for Gateshead and Jameson’s experience will help lessen the quantity of defensive errors.

Gateshead are now six points adrift, but the place feels far more positive now. You could see desire and effort, you could see a vision of what they’re going for too. I thought that Bowen had the best game out of the new faces, I really liked him today. Feeling very optimistic.

I like this signing. Doesn’t quite address all of the issues Gateshead have, but it’s a step in the right direction. Bowen’s good going forward and can put a shift in defensively too. He’s tailor-made to Rob Elliot’s style of play and has experience at this level.
