Red Bull have a track record of ignoring fans and community, and converting football clubs into soulless adverts. And it's not subtle. 10 years ago they said they had no interest in #LUFC. Now they're minority stakeholders. What happens tomorrow?
Because if they try and change the club name, colours, badge and/or name of Elland Road - I can only imagine protests of a unique ferocity. Tbh it's a struggle to even imagine the logo on the shirt, and I wonder how many will buy if it has red on, given the McDonald's opposite the ground had to remove all red, 32Red's logo had to be changed to blue, and even the decorator who paints red walls white for free.
Do they know what they're getting themselves into?
Investment is of course great for the club. But Red Bull's history is alarming and their intentions are dubious. And no amount of lip service can allay those fears, because actions speak louder than words.
And if they bring their famous scouting network and football philosophy to Leeds, I hope we've already seen the worst of it in Marsch, Kristensen, Aaronson and Augustin.
I want to be hopeful and optimistic about this investment/collaboration. But I'd really have preferred a group without such a parasitic past who have shown zero regard for the aspects of football that matter to fans.
I can get a better picture streaming the football from a US website than I can from @SkySports on their box. Utter crap quality. May as well cancel my contract and just stream live from abroad.
