25.03.2026 – With the support of @RwandaICT and @UNDP_Rwanda, Hon. Deputy Chief Justice, Alphonse Hitiyaremye, officially opened a one-day training aimed at equipping Judges of the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal with advanced knowledge in Artificial Intelligence [...]

In her remarks at the AI Trust & Safety Workshop at the Supreme Court, H.E. Julie Crowley, High Commissioner @CanadainRwanda , reflected on Canada’s own journey with AI and emphasized that the technology itself is not the problem. What matters is how we use it and the values we bring to it. She also noted that this shared understanding between Rwanda and Canada is what continues to bring both countries to work together on responsible AI, and that the work being done here is setting an example for many others in this area.

Earlier today at @RwandaJudiciary during the AI Trust & Safety Workshop, Dr. @FatmataLSesay , @UNDP_Rwanda Resident Representative, highlighted AI’s limits, noting that despite its ability to sift through multiple case files in moments, it cannot know the human experiences of a courtroom. She emphasized that responsible adoption requires safeguards, transparency, and ensuring AI strengthens rather than gives the judgment.

JUST IN: Minister of State @yves_Iradukunda has officially launched the #IndustryConnectSeries; a collaborative initiative between @urcst and @RwandaICT aimed at bridging the gap between students and the tech industry. This platform will connect students with leading tech companies, offering direct exposure to emerging technologies and the critical skills needed to thrive in today’s digital and knowledge-driven economy. The Minister urged students to seize this opportunity, engage with industry players and showcase their potential. He emphasized that the collaboration is a strategic step toward making UR-CST the go-to hub for sourcing top tech talent.

We are on the final day of the AI Trust and Safety Workshop, delivered in partnership with @UNDP_Rwanda and @CanadainRwanda . The session is being delivered at @RwandaJudiciary to address how we solidify the foundations for trusted and secure AI within the judiciary. These discussions remain focused on ensuring that technological growth is guided by rigorous governance, human accountability, and the preservation of judicial integrity.
