@NFLNumbersGuy I took my dad to that game and a few other Cowboys matchups around that time frame. I think the Cowboys lost all the games we attended. A Cardinals fan behind us dressed as a Cardinal (head to toe) and squawked at me the entire game. SQUAWKED. Low period as a Cowboys fan.

Name a random Quarterback. I’ll start - Quincy Carter The year was 2001. Troy Aikman retired. The Cowboys drafted a QB from Georgia in the 2nd round. It didn’t last long. He started 34 games during his 4 year career with the Cowboys and Jets

@newstart_2024 @lsferguson I have worked for, with and know many cubicle warriors that can’t problem solve at work and have still moved up the ranks. Some of these people are quite good at installing a fence or replacing a water heater too. The IQ test is a farce.

Jordan Peterson shared one of the most sobering statistics I’ve heard in a long time. The U.S. Armed Forces — after over a century of careful psychometric research driven by life-and-death necessity — will not induct anyone with an IQ below 83. They concluded that there is simply nothing in the military (at any level) that such a person can be trained to do without being counterproductive. Peterson noted that this threshold captures roughly one in ten people. And if the military’s complexity is even roughly comparable to broader society, that means about 10% of the population has no viable place in our cognitively demanding world. He emphasized that this isn’t about lack of money or short-term training. The data shows it’s extremely difficult to turn low cognitive ability into the kind of adaptive, creative problem-solving that modern society requires. It’s a raw, uncomfortable truth about human variation that most people prefer not to discuss openly. What do you think — is this statistic something society needs to confront honestly, or is there a better way to think about it?

@gp_juist @MrLeadslinger My point is that we should be self sustaining. We need the world economy to survive, but to the detriment of our own middle class. That shouldn’t be the case. But you know it all, so don’t waste your time arguing with me.

@jeffreytucker Agree. People at the local level need to run their own lives w/o corruption from the fed level. Public schools need to become testing grounds for new ways of educating our offspring. But the middle class needs to dump their love of credentialism for sweeping changes to happen

I can think of many criticisms of national service but the most devastating one is this one: the US government would run it. That means the same crony corruption, inefficiency, fraud, waste, and diversion of human energy of every single other government program ever.

Bill Simmons questions Cam Boozer’s ceiling in the NBA: “I watched a lot of Duke over the last 5 weeks. His big go to move is he basically bullies you and does these little spin moves and ends up with the same little jump hook or turn around. His goal is always to get as close to the basket as possible. Which you can do in High school and even do in College. I don’t know if you can do that in the NBA as comfortably” (Via Bill Simmons Podcast)

Just for context ... the referee is Roger Ayers, who has worked multiple Final Fours. Known for his toughness and also sense of humor. This struck me as Hurley messing with a buddy more than intimidating a ref. This is after Mullins' shot, so Hurley was obviously not mad at the refs.

UCONN HC Dan Hurley made contact with an official after his team went up 1 with .4 seconds left after trailing as much as 19 in the game. He literally taunted an official & is incredibly lucky he didn’t cost his team the game with a tech.

@jeffreytucker People that work for pharma and mil tech will argue that it takes intelligence and credentials to work in their respective industries, but any Joe can open up a liquor store. They’re aloof. Beware.

I used to think owning a liquor store would be fun. But then again, one wonders about pangs of conscience: so many reliable customers are not seeking that perfect vintage but rather just feeding life-destroying substance abuse. It's odd to profit from that. Now apply that thinking to working for a pharmaceutical company or a military contractor.

@AZSportsHistory That was not an offensive foul. Nevertheless, Sweatboy Miller should have had Gordon play D on Kaminsky all game and shut him down AND run an offense that gets our ridiculous athletes 100pts and not 60

3/29/14 - Nick Johnson (16p/4r/3a) was called for an offensive foul with 2.3sec remaining, then after WIS lost the ball out of bounds, Johnson did not get a shot off in time as UA lost to Wisconsin 64-63 in OT in the Elite 8, their 4th straight E8 loss. Gordon: 8p/18r. #BearDown

@AndyMorales8 I was a freshman and lived at the fball stadium (a real dud of a place) and one of the few benefits to living there was that I could always find some generous adult giving away a ticket or 2 for free right before a game. Great memories!

I was 8 when Fred Snowden captured my imagination. I was a sophomore in college when Lute warned us to buy tickets before you couldn't (and we did). Somewhere, there's a kid in first or second grade right now looking for UA jerseys and a Final Four shirt. This is their childhood and we are here for it. 🐻🔽🌵 🐻🔽❤️💙 🐻🔽🌵, 👊👊😼👊 🌵🐻🔽
