As far as I see it, this is UVA’s path to the ACC title game
- Win over VT
At least one of the following three outcomes:
- Pitt over GT
- Louisville over SMU
- Cal over SMU

@UVaHoopsRiffs @CutsfromCorner Comp would be 13-14 with London and Hall (ult redshirted) coming in as 1st years as the only true PGs on the team. The rest of that team was obviously more experienced, talented, and had ball handling at other positions but hopefully shows CTB would roll with 1st year PGs again

but for CTB to not have an experienced PG would be kinda shocking.

@UVaHoopsRiffs Perry would be a great get and better fit than Mack. More upside and versatility. Depending upon shooting development could probably have bliss and Mack on the court for extended periods.

@UVaHoopsRiffs Agree it starts and ends with talent but disagree that our our transfers out wouldn’t have been an upgrade. Think your mind would change if Eli announces he’s entering the portal in a week

@rwraiola no - those are not the answers.
I personally dispute that preventing transfers out is the answer or would've changed the past. Marginally in a few instances but mostly not a big deal / replaceable or even upgrades.
it's GETTING better talent in the first place.

Need too 30/35 players, at least a few per several years cycle. Top 100/top 50 is NOT the same. Virginia should be able to get these and a few five stars. Talent matters.

@treykelleher3 Like the matchup. Trust Reece to shut down Stevens like he has to other star 6’0” guards who he can bother with length (RJ Davis, Wade Taylor, etc.). CSU also doesn’t have a dominant big (Post, Burns, Flip) which has given UVA fits or shoot the 3 well other than Stevens.

UVA has now made 9 of the last 10 ncaa tournaments (10 out of 11 if you factor in 2020). Only 2 teams in the country made the last 10 tournaments. In the 10 years before Tony Bennett, UVA only made 2 tournaments. Appreciate his consistency and greatness

@UVaHoopsRiffs What are the odds Dunn stays? 10%? Obviously bias but feels like he could benefit from another year. Seems like his shooting ineptitude was largely mental and not out of the realm of possibility he could be a 35% 3 point shooter on low volume with an off-season of work

@UVaHoopsRiffs Weird how the metrics work. Why is Clemson a lock and a 6 seed while UVA is the on the bubble? Short answer is wins @ unc and Alabama, but they also have more losses and worse losses - @ Miami, home against GT, @ ND, BC neutral, NC state at home

Reece has been an all-time UVA player. It has been a joy watching him develop and grow in this program, and I can’t wait to see him succeed at the next level.

Buchanan was huge in this one. Need to get back to Dunn more at the three and exploring the options at that spot, though. We’ve gotten away from it the past three games despite it being great vs Miami.

@CutsfromCorner Tony is a defensive genius but watching a game like that makes you wonder if some games we should just simplify things and switch ball screens (at least 1-4). Try to have Dunn involved in the switch as much as possible and rely on 2 best defenders in the country’s 1x1 defense

I might just do an entire Cuts on ball screen defense.
Pitt did this to us last year and we didn’t learn how to defend it.
Yes they shot well, but they also carved us up.

Just finished watching as I couldn’t catch live. Ugly. Reece hard carried. Energy wasn’t there much of the game.
But my biggest frustration after energy was shot selection.
