I dunno….Vasquez has a couple years of being a full time catcher and his stuff wasn’t that much to write home about. I don’t think he’s got everyday or starting catcher stamina left in him. I think they give Yainer another month or so to see what’s up before any significant change is made to playing time.

Christian Vazquez has simply outplayed Yainer Diaz. Question, when do the Astros pull the plug on Yainer Diaz? It’s became a frustrating watch at the plate and behind the plate too

@ryanbokros But maybe that's because the pitching is worse down there, he'll be better against better pitching.

Can someone please explain why Yainer is still consistently getting start over Vazquez? In fact why is he even getting starts in the first place, genuinely call up Janek or Salazar atp

A kid that celebrates like this, and plays for an org that supports it, will probably never sniff a meaningful level of baseball…so I guess let him get his while he can. I don’t like it, but I’m not his parent, coach, or org director. 🤷🏼‍♂️
Danny Kanell@dannykanell

The coaches and parents who allow this to go on are the problem. Instead of teaching kids how to play the game the right way and show respect for the opponent they’re worried about getting viral attention. Embarrassing.

@ryanbokros As a hitter.. His plate discipline is so bad he won’t challenge calls and I think Houston management has laid that out for him. The two ABS walks he has were initiated by the other team.

@ryanbokros @JohnRichTV My thought as well. He can always look back to this video when his athletic prowess topped out at age 12..

@ryanbokros I don’t agree with that video & I don’t coach to act like that , but watching MLB players in the way they act is why kids dothat, 15/20 years ago it was not like that and it happens all over the country now. But if that kid is good enough, he’s gonna play college baseball.

This is why the Dodgers are the best-run franchise in baseball. Andrew Friedman, rather than trading his prospects, keeps them and figures things out later. He kept Dalton Rushing even with Will Smith in the fold, and now Rushing is breaking out.

Astros fans were justifiably upset for the way this was handled…but If any other even moderate baseball fan watches this whole interview, they should be irate by this. MLB laid the groundwork for completely changing the game, and I’m not talking about the cheating aspect.
Bonda@BenOndaTop

It was such an obvious injustice that took place here. Never would’ve stood up in court. Luhnow’s Astros were the main hurdle in the way of MLB (the dodgers) becoming what it is today…Deferred contracts & a financial monopolization of the sport. The disruptive one had to go.
