I've been trying to find a good way to express this and I'm still not sure I'll nail it but here we go. Regarding being a peacemaker on the Internet: When people see us declaring ourselves members of Christ's church, they shouldn't see the same things they see everywhere else. We are not playing the same game as they are. We are not here to win the internet with the snarkiest retorts because that's a child's game. We're not trying to convince anyone with a long and careful logical argument because reason and logic are inadequate tools to find God. Either God reveals Himself, or you're worshipping an idol constructed of whatever propositions you choose to agree with. We aren't tying ourselves to political movements or temporary passions and hoping people hop on over. Those aren't our people to begin with and will not be our friends once the political moment passes. The ones we're looking for--Our People--are the Lord's sheep hoping to catch another quiet echo of His voice so they can follow it. It is His voice we should be amplifying. If you're having trouble finding the right posture between peacemaking and defending the faith, I humbly suggest that the Lord can fight His own battles. Put down the sword and raise a lamps instead.
