Played with No. 8 in the PGA Tour U standings yesterday, Omar Morales from UCLA. These poor golf courses just aren’t long enough for the kids. So so so much speed and hits it so straight off the tee too.

Rory went to the range to hit a few balls after round 3 to tidy some things up… Interviewer asked if he needed to work on a few things in his mechanics, physically or mentally… Rory said if the mechanical and physical components are good, then that helps him mentally Put another way… if Rory flushes the ball due to good swing technique & mechanics, that gives him confidence which then means his “mental game” will be good He’s not “thinking positive” with poor technique. So many golfers say “it’s just mental”… hmmm IMO no. Knowing you can hit the ball where you are aiming creates a positive “mental game”. If you play off 25, I don’t care if you have prime Tiger mental game… your technique can’t hit the ball from A to B in a consistent manner. That then affects your “positive or negative” mentality IMO✌🏼

Honestly this is how the movement in your normal swing should feel. If this feels alien to you it’s because you’re not timing the transfer of your weight properly in your regular swing. Practice it until you can’t tell the difference. Please remember the step is really early in the backswing.

“Just cause it’s unconventional, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it.” @Padraig_H on why amateurs should step during their swing 👀
