We were saddened to hear of the passing of Marvin Brown aged 42. Marvin joined the Bristol City Academy at the age of eight and went on to become the club’s youngest player, aged just 16 years and 71 days in September 1999. While at the club, Marvin featured for England Under-16s and Under-17s before moving on to Forest Green Rovers in 2004. A proud Bristolian, Marvin founded Total Pro Soccer, a development centre for young boys in the Bristol area and worked as an Academy coach at Bristol City alongside and beyond his playing career in various roles and played a crucial role in the development of numerous Academy graduates. Our sincere condolences go to his family & friends.

⚽️ CLUB LEGEND STEPS DOWN ⚽️ Club statement from Dan Cook: “I have made the difficult decision to finally hang up my boots. I was close to doing it in the summer, but wanted to try and get another season in with all the changes at the club. Whilst I’ve been out with my eye socket fracture, I’ve been trying to finally rehabilitate a long standing Achilles problem and I’m still a long way from recovering and getting back on the pitch. The last few seasons have been tough with one injury after another (not helped by my chemotherapy treatment or turning 38 soon) and unfortunately my body just hasn’t got another season in me. I joined the club way back in 2007 and have made so many great memories and friendships here. Massive thanks to all the boys and volunteers, committee and of course Mr Chairman himself for making this amazing club what it is. Wish you all the best 💜🤍”. Club statement from Bob Gregory (Chairman): “I had a feeling this was coming and fully understand the decision having been both your manager and chairman for the duration of your 18 incredible and loyal years here at Fryth Way which deservedly saw you become one of the clubs legends. It’s been both a challenge (nice one) and a pleasure over the years and have enjoyed the banter, not to mention our annual bets on how many goals you would score each season.
