@SportsOrla You won’t find many British cycling fans happy with this one. The @eurosport coverage is great but the @itvcycling coverage is why we fell in love with cycling in the first place. I mean, I have access to Eurosport but given a choice, always choose the itv coverage.

@SportsOrla This is *not* something to celebrate. The sport is scratching it's head going "Why can't we attract funding?" Well, you need fans/viewers for that. Sticking it behind a paywall is never a good thing for a financially marginal sport trying to grow. Cycling is *not* the winner here

Really saddened that ITV will not be able to show Le Tour after next year. Its history on ITV goes back almost 60 years when it started on London Weekend TV with David Saunders. Big thoughts to @millarmind and @nedboulting

This is not good news for cycling in the UK. Firstly, I'd like to say that there are a lot of passionate cycling fans working at WBD, in front of and behind the scenes. The company is automatically 'disliked' by a cohort of the general public because it's a huge international conglomerate, but Eurosport have been showcasing cycling since 1991. They have, and continue to do a hell of a lot for our sport. On the flip side, exclusivity on the biggest race in the world, the ONLY race where non-cycling fans might tune is, is very worrying. It's a significant barrier to entry into what is already a relatively niche sport in the UK. ITV not only do a fantastic job themselves of broadcasting the race, live and with easily accessible highlights, they provide a gateway to WBD. The fans they 'convert' each July are more likely to subscribe to Discovery+/Max/Eurosport once they've realised how amazing our sport is. They must have made lifelong cycling fans of millions of people over the last few decades (including me). Anyway, I really feel for Ned, Dave, Pete, Matt, Daniel, Gary and all the others behind the ITV production - thank you for all you've done for the sport.

I guess you’ll have heard the news, that 2025 is to be ITV’s last Tour de France. Surprised (no free-to-air for London 2027??). Slightly in shock. No Gary presenting the Tour. Hard to believe.

@mrendell @NeilWakelam Dreadful decision by the sport. Hard to take. A huge part of my life since 80’s. Brian Venner put together a team responsible for some of the best sports TV ever. That magic cannot be replicated and when it ends an era will end.
