Quick story. One of the first podcasts I ever followed, back in late 2009, was The Skeptic's Guide to the Universe. It was interesting and sciency and I learned quite a bit until the constant drumbeat of leftwing politics turned me off and I gave it up. Rebecca was the most avowedly left-wing member of the podcast and has not lost a step in the last 15 years. The thing that always fascinated me about that entire crew - and her specifically - is that they never treated the other side of the political aisle like a science experiment. They never probed, never studied, never attempted to understand. Instead, they twisted and straw manned and lied. They could break down pareidolia with a surgeon's precision, but anything even bordering on politics was only ever framed with a progressive caricature of the personalities or issues at hand. I don't know that Rebecca, or any of the other hosts, has ever addressed this dichotomy - which is clear as day to anyone to the right of AOC - and I would, sincerely, like to understand the answer. TL:DR, I occasionally think about what this crew is up to now and am disappointed (but not surprised) when I find out it's the same, tired schtick.

Pressure's on. NO SPOILERS PLEASE

no one: me: there’s a common misconception that the “dmv” refers to dc, maryland, and virginia as a whole and that is deeeeeply incorrect. it includes dc, NORTHERN virginia (fredericksburg…. don’t kid urself), and PARTS of southern maryland. do not piss me off
