The Europan Deception is now available from Amazon! It's a first-in-series hard sci-fi thriller for fans of The Expanse looking for a fast-paced espionage story about an ancient conspiracy looking to destabilize the galaxy. Link below.

@JoePaulGians Yup. I even got paid to go to school full time! It did cram 3 years of work into 18 months but it was some of the best times I had when I was AD.

Getting an engineering masters, when you're in the military, is a really great way to reinforce your skill sets. It also helps it's often paid for and you can get immediate returns before you even look to the civilian market. Doing my thesis on tube wear for howitzers was both fascinating and useful - not only did it help me get my current gig, but when I was in command, it gave me insight into exactly how far I could push the guns if I had to.

I got mine in spacecraft controls. After I graduated with an M.S.: -Launch mission manager -Ground system test lead -Pentagon staff officer -Ground system test lead Some parts of it are helpful (I'm great on a testbed or workbench) but it's not applicable day to day.

Don't do a Masters unless you have a really good reason. I interview hundreds of mechanical engineering candidates. I can't think of a single candidate where a Masters made their candidacy stronger.

This is my current read. It's got a ton of great ideas, and parts of it are great, but it's less than the sum of its parts. Like the Area 51 series by the same author, the original is great and the sequels drop off in quality until its conclusion.

The year is 2198. War with Alpha Centauri rages in the outer quadrants. The US Congress appropriates $10 trillion dollars for 8 Arleigh Burke Flight XXIVs to conduct anti-planetary bombardment defense from our forward base on Neptune. The DDG(X) program remains a distant dream.

Looking good, ViaSat-3 F2! 📸🛰️🌎 This amazing photo of our ViaSat-3 F2 fully deployed large reflector was taken in space – 22,236 miles above Earth. Exciting progress for our ViaSat-3 program, as we focus on advancing in-orbit testing of our ultra-high-capacity satellite.
