@ProfRobAnderson We measured this once for judicial opinions. The most highly cited predominantly cite recent cases, with a few older cites sprinkled in (i.e. low mean high variance). Articles likely to be quite different though.

I think this is probably less true in areas where there is progress in knowledge (science, engineering, etc.) in addition to changes in what's a la mode.

Hypothesis: If 80% of the cited items in your footnotes are from the last 5 years, your article probably isn't going to stand the test of time.

Has anyone shown how the law twitter community changed during the whole “twitter is failing / quit twitter” period? Are lots of users only or mainly on other platforms now? Or is the change relatively small?

I compulsively plug my wife’s devices in so her batteries never run low. Judging by the eye rolls, it is solely for my enjoyment. I do find it very recharging.

Building on methods from our previous work, we also show that courts (somewhat surprisingly) don’t vary the amount of explication about the identity or behavior of the PHOSITA depending on whether the invention at issue is routine or highly unusual. 5/5

As well as analyses exploring just how deeply courts engage with the PHOSITA as they attempt to define who they would be, what they would know, and ultimately what they would do or believe (answer: not deeply at all). 4/5

@tripperhead Cap. 599I relies on emergency authority granted by Cap. 599 § 8, which itself requires the CE to declare an emergency in relation to a specified public health threat. The current emergency declaration is in relation to Covid-19, not influenza.

The CE should roll back as many of the emergency regs as possible asap, especially the most visible like Cap. 599I mandating masks everywhere. Although note that this is scheduled to expire today and thus far, no gazetting of extensions (@tripperhead any updates on this?)

If Hong Kong is truly 'back on stage' and ready to attract visitors, then surely it isn't also in a state of "public health emergency" under Cap. 599. Right?

@ortospace Hong Kong is a useful rebuttal to the 'but Japan' justification for mask mandates. We've still got a mask mandate here (even outdoors!) and have infection and death numbers as high or higher than many places where masking is unusual.
