The "Sanctions" argument as an excuse for African underdevelopment is fundamentally flawed when compared to the reality of North Korea. It's time to trade the excuses, and the blame game for innovation.

The most effective trap set for Africa was the preservation of a victimhood narrative, one that many Africans have unknowingly embraced. While former British colonies elsewhere have leveraged their history to build global powerhouses, too many African nations remain tethered to the past, settling for the bare minimum while perpetually blaming imperialism for modern stagnation. Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong aren't so bad today. They're building and innovating, they're not participating in the Victimhood Olympics.

@FaraiMazhindu Perhaps things have an opportunity to trend in that direction. In addition to the significant investments China is making in Africa, perhaps they would willing to part some advice along these lines as well.

History shows that trauma is not a life sentence. China was once brought to its knees by British imperialism, yet they didn't spend the next century pleading for sympathy. They locked in, focused on internal growth, and transformed into a global superpower. Africa has a lot to learn from China.
