@PieZRDone also dw characters designs have always been basic (i mean considering glisten was originally a dhmis oc) I think it’s just the style qwel overall prefers.
skins are just a common and easy way to add more content towards the game.

not saying the skin is extremely complicated but sprouts boring design makes it definitely makes it less difficult on these merch companies/artist along with keeping it low cost

A lot of people were upset that a ton of toons didn’t have event-skins (i know a lot of craft sibling fans were disappointed with christmas update due to no skins </3)
