@TuaUl I was annoyed at it as well, but I also understand they were trying to show people a new way of playing and and advertise new classes. I would have preferred to be given the choice, but thankfully it's such a small portion overall that for me at least, it didn't ruin anything.

Unpopular FF14 opinion: I'm sick and tired of solo instances that forces me to play as an NPC (Thancred, Krile, etc) I play, to play my WOL, not another character...WOL that has all the job stones btw, so the story could be adapted. Waiting for my Google Doc cancellation now.

@itsbearVT Literally nowhere in his post did he say the artists were ONLY using AI. As a concept artist and opening yourself up to new ideas: AI would be one of them. Just because you decide not to use it doesn't mean others can't, and Larian being honest about the usage should be praised

another concept artist here wanting to say that any designer worth their salt would agree when i say that 50% of creating GREAT designs is the quality of reference gathered and the personal visual library of the artist actually doing the work using ai generated images in your reference boards to "get an idea" actively hamstrings your ability to explore and iterate actual new, interesting designs because it creates a preconceived end goal in your head and allows no room for deviation and happy accidents to happen the greatest concept artists ive ever met are people who expose themselves to new things and are truly curious about the world. they spend DAYS collecting high quality, accurate reference and have images of everything you could ever think of under the sun in their personal libraries- fabrics and stitching from so many different cultures, cool rocks, weird plants, interesting architecture, landscapes, art from every time period etc. do not fall for the "generate ideas" excuse, you are hired as a concept artist first for your great ideas and design sense, not because you can paint the prettiest picture. the last thing many of us want- gamers and artists alike- is for the medium we all love so much to become only derivative slop with the same repackaged visuals and experiences.

I raided someone because I wanted to support them, not realizing they had just been raided then chat proceeded to complaining about “too many raids” and it made me feel embarrassed and guilty even though my intentions were good..

@DevEthos It's a fantastic game and I would encourage anyone and everyone to play it. Played it Day1 and went all the way through. And I'd take it a step further and try out all the games listed on there. They all deserve it.

I got no hate for KCD2. I bought the game months ago but never got around to it because there was just too many games. But since so many of y'all think it got robbed, I'm going to play it and see the hype instead of jumping on this platform and calling it trash.

@jadel4w The game the first one talked about may not be my thing, but I can clearly see the potential for a new professional developer in the making. She may never make something that's my cup of tea, but that's okay. I'd rather have her making games not for me than wasting potential.

The comments section of this post is depressing. The men posing awful comments don’t realise that what they are saying is the very reason girls do not feel welcome to pursue careers in games. Initiatives like this are important to overcome that. The games industry is so difficult to navigate, but a lot of women developers do succeed. People also forget not every game is for them. And that’s okay. More diverse developers, whether gender, race or class means more diverse games and stories. For everyone who says “where are the initiatives for boys?” There are lots of initiatives of kids of both genders to learn code, art, music and design. But it’s not the boys being told they aren’t welcome. It’s not always easy being a woman in games. I like to think I’ve not been treated any different for my gender but the reality is I likely have I’m just choosing to ignore it and move forward. But we don’t want special treatment, we want an equal footing. But when you’re throwing mud, we start off sunk a little deeper.
