Anwar’s story unfolded a century ago, but we are no closer to his dream of building religious amity and an India without poverty and exploitation. Just as the colonial forces beat up Anwar and jailed his compatriots, many activists face violence and imprisonment for speaking up.

'Anwar, a sheltered child, is puzzled when he sees separate vendors for “Hindu water” and “Muslim water” at the Delhi railway station. As he tries to figure out the difference between the two, he notices both filling water from the same tap.'

Inquilab by Khwaja Ahmad Abbas builds a fictional cladding around the key events of the Indian independence movement, and features its leaders as characters. @saadsye reviews hindustantimes.com/books/review-i…

"Ridley is a fascinating writer — not because of his craft but because he has successfully greenwashed his unscientific, environmentally damaging ideas with nature writing." I write about Matt Ridley's book 'Birds, Sex & Beauty', published by @HarperCollinsIN
manjula narayan@utterflea

Birds, Sex & Beauty by Matt Ridley combines the author's birdwatching accounts, especially of the courtship rituals of the black grouse in England’s Pennine Hills, with a chronicle of the debates around evolution - @saadsye reviews hindustantimes.com/books/review-b…

Never seen Delhi’s Middle Class protesting against AAP Govt, but in last 10 months, Middle class has protested against BJP Govt for ; - Pvt School fee hike - Pollution farziwada - Dwarka water problem - Vasant Kunj
Sheela Bhatt शीला भट्ट@sheela2010

LOOK at the daring of the stunningly corrupt DDA and MCD @MCD_Delhi to allow construction using loopholes in the law. AQI today in Delhi: 400 plus Press Invite Residents’ Welfare Association of B-1 Vasant Kunj is holding mass protest at Jantar Mantar on 30 Nov 2025 from 2 PM to 5 PM against construction of multi-storey three towers comprising 10 floors, each with 3-level basement on the South Central Morphological Ridge. Ridge is the green lungs of Delhi and its preservation is vital to any attempt at improving Delhi’s AQI. In flagrant contravention of environmental norms, master plan development and related statutory regulations, DDA has sanctioned the said construction in the South Central Ridge areas, which is under their control and management. Impact of construction related dust, pollution, noise and emissions on 5000 B-1 residents and thousands of school children in project’s vicinity, stress on existing civic infrastructure, traffic congestion, water availability, digging into fragile Aravali hills for basement construction, implications of seismic zone-IV etc have been completely disregarded and given a go by. Ridge serves many ecological functions in Delhi. Instead of preserving remaining ridge areas, rampant construction of ultra luxury towers by the private builders is being permitted by the DDA and MCD in the ecologically fragile areas. This protest is meant to highlight genuine concerns of B-1 residents, to protect and preserve ridge in its pristine glory, to safeguard physical and mental well being of vulnerable population – senior residents and children from deteriorating AQI and to assert our inherent right to clean air. RWA of B-1, Vasant Kunj request you to cover the mass protest of RWA B-1, Vasant Kunj at Jantar Mantar on 30 Nov 2025 from 2 PM to 3 PM and spread its messages far and wide among citizens and public functionaries in order to generate environmental awareness among them and to influence land development agencies such as DDA and MCD to cancel such projects in the ecologically fragile areas.

@shantihp @DilliDurAst My anecdotal evidence is that the pollution is worse in Kanpur, Patna, Ranchi, Ahmedabad, and Varanasi than in Delhi. Villages with garbage burning have even worse air quality. That's why we can't rely on subjective assessments and need more monitors.

@DilliDurAst I know it is not great. But Delhi is of another level, gone beyond any limits, so it is wrong to compare with Delhi/NCR region.

There’s a huge air pollution crisis OUTSIDE Delhi. Lack of air pollution meters gives people the false belief that pollution isn’t as bad as Delhi. People don’t install air purifiers at home even when they should. Local governments are complacent; there’s no problem to solve

Third attempt at withdrawing EPF. Third rejection. This time I even used a consultant’s help 🫠. Your money is safest with the government. They won’t give it to anyone. Not even you. ❣️🥰
