This is a headline from 10 years ago. “UN condemns Israeli attack on sleeping children”. Ten years ago, Israel slaughtered over 2,200 Palestinians in Gaza, including more than 500 children. 10 years ago. Don’t let Israel gaslight you into thinking this began on October 7th.

NBI 74: As more and more money pours into our political system from AIPAC & DMFI it is imperative that NEA research & publicize which candidates receive money and endorsements from these lobbying groups so NEA voters are informed about their elected officials. 11/12

NBI 50: Our schools are falling apart, our teachers are under paid, are curriculum out of date. But the US has billions of dollars to send to Israel for military spending? NEA MUST call out this hypocrisy 10/12

NBI 42: Currently, there is not a strong understanding of the term “genocide” and its history. That needs to be rectified, especially throughout the NEA. As educators it is imperative we are clear on the definition of genocide, to ensure never again means never again. 9/12

NBI 34: As members of the nation’s largest union our endorsement is extremely valuable. We NEA members have unique leverage to pressure the Biden administration to stop funding Israel’s assault on Gaza by withholding our endorsement until several demands are met. 8/12

NBI 29: teachers & educators from around the country are being attacked for merely teaching about Palestine in their classrooms. NEA needs to stand with its membership and protect academic freedoms! 7/12

NBI 10: The United States spends exponentially more on war than our schools. NEA members deserve to know how much more and NEA needs to use their platform to expose this unjust spending gap. 6/12

NBI 9: Palestinian Trade Unions, including the General Union of Palestinian Teachers and the General Union of Kindergarten Workers, are asking for unions internationally to end all forms of complicity with Israel. NEA members should be educated on their call to action. 5/12

NBI 8: BDS is a Palestinian-led movement employing nonviolent action to pressure Israel to comply with international law. BDS is connected to issues that are important to education unionists such as free speech rights, labor movement organizing, and student activism. 4/12

NBI 7: Antisemitism and anti-Zionism are often equated, but are meaningfully different. Antisemitism is bias or action against Jewish people, while anti-Zionism is a political stance. NEA needs to make that distinction clear to protect its members from false accusations. 3/12

NBI 6: Educating about the Nakba is essential for understanding the Palestinian diaspora narrative and experience, including the ongoing trauma of our Palestinian American students today. 2/12
