@blakethinks @realJackEason message was basically that the lead had the responsibility to be there for people when he was needed, but it's delivered so vaguely it feels like it's reinforcing backwards norms about parenthood and abortion(??). Could have avoided being that chuddy so easily
English

@realJackEason At least more folks noticed this one was weirdly misogynistic
English

@Ilhan You are claiming that a specific genus is being '-cided'. What is that genetic group called?
English

@celluloidlimes It's a Chinese movie because it's a Hong Kong movie and Hong Kong is Chinese
English

first off, hong kong production, secondly directed by a japanese man, thirdly stars a mostly international cast from all across asia
Leo@Major_Leoo
No cgi, just straight hands. This is why Chinese movies will still be superior in martial arts display.

@charlimitvictim Kitano really tapped into Ren Osugi's inherent sex appeal more than other directors. I would love to tell Kitano this if I ever met him

@erstatiz @Yash_comics Shocker: Anime fan learns sometimes anime adaptations become more influential or ubiquitous than the manga
English

@Yash_comics Not sure where I said " Urusei Yatsura was defined by and belongs to Oshii " lol
English

I can't stand how disrespectful Oshii's cult towards artists and will actively discredit them. First GitS, and now an attempt to disrespect Takahashi Rumiko with the claim that Urusei Yatsura was defined by and belongs to Oshii.
erstatiz@erstatiz
@Yash_comics It was Oshii's anime that really established Lum as the foundational moe character in the otaku psyche

@gothgfdotrip @turbopisser People are either stupid or give so much grace to this LDP propaganda movie about a patriot feeling guilty for not doing his kamikaze duty and then getting to do ethical kamikaze and survive. The only critique of Imperial Japan is them letting too many Japanese soldiers die!
English

@turbopisser Maybe you just slept through the film if you somehow missed the WW2 revisionism which was roughly 80% of it.
English

I don't think we watched the same movie, big dog.
Alexis ☭@gothgfdotrip
No, I would have been good without the human characters in Minus One, because they just existed to scream "JAPAN NEVER COMMITTED WAR CRIMES" at the audience for the entire runtime.
English

@ListenUpLiberal The stated goal of this whole network of progressive influencers is trying to push the Democratic establishment more left as a more suitable populist opposition party. Which is idiotic, wrongheaded, and actively counter-revolutionary
English

@sablec_ Yeah and also, what does it even matter if AOC 'supports' medicare for all (for example) if she is NEVER going to fight for it? Vigeland is just sheepdogging people who want to change the system for the better back into the same party that is responsible for the state of affairs.
English

Currently feeling: smugly vindicated :3

🇵🇸✌️☭@ListenUpLiberal
If that bitch Emma Vigeland and that halfwit Sam Seder are rooting for ‘your candidate’ to win, stop calling yourself a socialist, let alone a communist

@grahamhalpin1 @psemophile Yeah Dunkirk is a big one for, very impressionistic at times. And Tenet is borderline experimental at times
English

@sablec_ @psemophile "unusual jagged rhythms"- i'll steal that if u don't mind👌 the first cut and last cut of dunkirk being a great and obvious example. u are very aware of the splice. its how he wants it- cool with me.

funny thing is it completely works in context

Nolan sometimes has the funniest editing

English

@grahamhalpin1 @psemophile I actually dislike how he structures a number of his movies, but those are more directing decisions than editing, the execution is not the issue
English

@grahamhalpin1 @psemophile I have a lot of problems with Nolan but editing isn't one of them. He loves unusual jagged rhythms and it's always very strong in comparison to his blockbuster peers
