It is 2024. Roads are a divisive topic, everyone seems to have an opinion on them. We set off many years ago aiming to document the history, and interest, of the British and Irish road networks to share knowledge and understanding for their stories. Would you like to join us?

January 2024's Photo of the Month is the twin Warkworth Bridges in Northumberland, taken by member Big Nick. We run a monthly photo contest where members share their best photos of road scenes - bridges typically do very well, but can you make the mundane become magnificent?

@doug_farnan They will have done, yes. The red/green figure didn't arrive until 1965 and lots of places were using up the old Wait/Cross Now signals up til that point.

@sabreroads I think these ped signals had worded wait and cross lenses?

Does anyone know whether these were unique to Sheffield or not?
