@Ibn_alMashriqi @JoshPhillipsPhD Napoleon is pretty much the villain of "War & Peace." Tolstoy shares his hatred of Napoleon with Arthur Schopenhauer, who inspired much of his philosophy. This is also partly why Tolstoy hates Hegel.

Tolstoy would like a word.

When I was in my final year of high school I studied history and they made us do a project on the Great Man Theory of History, really strongly pushing us towards the argument that it was all fake I chose Napoleon, and I argued it was real He was That Guy

@MutualSociology @Joker_of_Zero Good. But they are out of print. There are three volumes in total.

@Sacrifice_Isaac @Joker_of_Zero How’s the Russian philosophy book?

@m966021 Put, look at any popular philosopher within academia or online forums, and you will find toxic fans (no matter how good or intelligent the philosopher might be). Christ is probably the best example of this. 3/3
English

@m966021 Now we are seeing this occur with the Kantians and Hegelians. Those that tend not to have toxic fanbases are usually those not so popular or niche philosophers. For instance, I don’t really see many toxic Husserl fans. 2/

Nietzsche. The problem with researching Nietzsche is how bastardized he is in popular media and culture. In order to teach him you have to undo the vulgar misconceptions of him.

Who is the philosopher with the most annoying fanbase?
