@mitchellh Codex is more careful about your tokens yes, but Opus solves a task in 1 iteration, and codex needs to be pinged multiple times until the solution is ready. So you decide.

I know this is pretty well established at this point, but Codex 5.3 is a much more effective model than Opus 4.6. I went back and forth on both for a bit, but haven’t touched Opus at all now for a full week. First model to get me off of Opus… ever. Good job Codex team.

It was a fun exercise recently to just open up a completely blank file and write an RL agent from scratch, without looking at any of my prior code. There is a point of scale where rewriting things from scratch is a bad idea, but it is a blessing when you can! By “from scratch” I mean with pytorch, and I chuckle a bit about how I used to be irritated when people would say that, as I considered it not from scratch if it wasn’t in C with no libraries, but now I am them.

@s_v7t @ID_AA_Carmack it says Commander Keen, but I think plans started in the Quake dev era, to check what Romero is working on? :)
