THE LORD’S SUPPER WAS INSTITUTED DURING THE PASSOVER (Matt 26:17-19, Luke 22:7-15). During Passover, God strictly commanded unleavened bread only NO YEAST allowed throughout the feast (Exodus 12:15, 19-20). Anyone who ate leavened bread was cut off. Reason is Because leaven (yeast) in Scripture is a consistent symbol of sin and corruption. See 1 Corinthians 5:6-8: “Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough? ... For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old bread leavened with malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.” The bread represents Christ’s sinless body. Using bread with yeast (the symbol of sin) doesn’t match the purity of what it points to. Jesus said “Do this in remembrance of Me” He did it with unleavened bread as a perfect Jew keeping the Law. We should follow the pattern He gave. This isn’t about judging any church harshly, but about honouring the Lord’s table with reverence and biblical accuracy (1 Cor 11:23-29).
