It was a humbling experience. I left that hall knowing that future of AI is ours to shape. The question is: Are you on team “prepare for the worst” or team “build for the best”???

They say you can’t mix comedy and apocalypses. And yet a few weeks ago in Toronto, Geoffrey Hinton (our “Godfather of AI”) and his former intern turned‑billionaire founder Nick Frost proved otherwise. Insights Continued in comments.

But between the laughs came a serious message: unchecked AI autonomy could spawn “sub‑goals” at odds with human interests, and opaque “black box” models pose auditing headaches. Yet both agree on how the government + industry + academia can craft the regulations we urgently need.

They went on: - Hinton: “Autonomous weapons? I shudder to think - my toaster might unionize next.” - Frost: “Alarmism sells clicks, not solutions. Let’s fix bias before we fix the world.”
