Given the recent drama at Meta FAIR, I was wondering if people would be interested in hearing my opinions on why industrial research is hard. My credential is that all three industrial research labs I worked at have shut their doors. That may or may not have made me an expert😅

@vixhal Honestly, DeepSeek may be under the radar here in the US, but in China, it’s anything but gone. It only cost $294K to train its R1 model, and deeper in China it's already driving gov’t deployments & beating rivals in benchmarks.
