What does Nigeria’s ranking on the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) really mean? And what does it not tell us?
In the 108th episode of our podcast, we unpack this important question with two leading voices in the anti-corruption space: Nankpak Cirfat from Connected Development (CODE) and Bathsheba Tagwai from the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre / Transparency International Nigeria.
Together, they break down how the CPI works, what it actually measures, and some of the common misconceptions around the index.
If you’ve ever wondered how these global rankings are determined or what they mean for Nigeria’s anti-corruption journey, this episode offers clear, practical insights you won’t want to miss.

Nigerian government officials will wave their president goodbye at the airport then fly to where he’s going, to go welcome him. We’ve never seen this level of sycophancy in our history.

@blaqboi_vic Well, APC didn't win Plateau state in the last election, and perhaps it's because of this. 2027 is coming. Let's watch and see

The President has no business going to Jos if he was going to turn at the Airport. If it was a campaign, he will enter nooks and crannies of that State to solicit votes. Lives were lost, citizens are panicking and all you could do was a consolation speech at the AirPort? Even had the relatives who just lost their people dress up to meet him. A waste of everybody’s time.

Someday, Nigerians will have an empathetic president who will treat victims of terror attacks as real human beings, with the basic dignity humans should have... a courageous president who will visit actual terror scenes to personally assess damage and console victims.
Until then, continue managing this one who summons victims into a town hall where he delivers yet another of his many insipid speeches...
