@mattvanswol I'm calling for a fact check. My parents live in Salem county. "Downtown" doesn't look like this, it's a small collection of antique shops and a couple local restaurants (plus a really cool collectibles store).

🚨#BREAKING: Police and businesses are panicking in Winston-Salem NC as over 200 teenagers took over the streets of downtown, blocking traffic until 2AM. The teens began dancing on cars, fighting, drinking alcohol while throwing scooters, and even macing each other in the face with pepper spray. According to one business owner, kids began to throw scooters at "friends they didn't like at school" and then the teens began macing each other in the face and fighting. The city is considering banning all teens from downtown after 8PM after businesses had to close early and police were pulled from all over the city to control the chaos. This is absolutely insane... WHERE ARE THEIR PARENTS?!!!!

@DdelAlamo agreed! Also, I was a theorist in an NMR group in the late 1990s, and people were talking about these new shimming methods simliarly back then; though IIRC it was 10s of minutes to autoshim back then

I rotated in an NMR lab during my PhD, the old-timers would not stop talking about shimming. How it used to be done by hand. Coming home late to upset spouses because shimming would take over an hour. Years later a machine does it in 5 seconds. TLDR this gatekeeping is stupid

You cannot optimize what you haven't mastered manually. You haven't earned the right to automate until you've felt the friction of the manual labor.

Hopefully coming back from #BPS2026 today. Saw lots of cool talks & posters on protein dynamics, and on AI in protein structure & dynamics. Lots of tools to play with for my own research and people to check out and possibly invite for NextGen talks and/or JBSD articles. The question now is with flight delays, when will I make it back
