Recovery pace is top; timed step-out; tackles to retain the ball; smart, curved running to delay transitions. On the ball, he belongs to the mould of Schlotterbeck, Gvardiol, Bastoni, Lisandro Martinez, Willian Pacho, etc. So, a lot of line-breaking passes attempted to zip through opponents. His deliveries are weighted, his switches are precise, and drive through the receiver. His long passes in behind land in an optimal zone between the goalkeeper & the backline. Elite crosser, crashes the box at the right time to capitalize on deliveries at the far post. Something Cucurella & O'Reilly do frequently. To add a cherry on top, he's a very good penalty and set-piece taker. I think Real Madrid should've struck a deal with Dortmund to buy Nico Schlotterbeck and send Diego Aguado there with a buy-back clause.
