Meta just shipped calorie tracking on Ray-Ban glasses and now most developers will try to avoid this space But looking at food and counting calories is such a small part of the problem People need to understand their behaviour and they need a reward mechanism that brings them back Tracking is plumbing Gamification is the value layer and that's barely been touched

@SamCole Nothing looks more dystopian than people in the tube hypnotised by their phones. And the AR/VR haters refuse to acknowledge it. Also, they won't acknowledge that VR gaming, unlike any other form of videogaming (except -anecdotally- DDR) can be a good workout.

Les Mills have such epic virtual worlds for their Trip product They should definitely get them in VR and connected to a bike

Bets we got wrong @weareFitXR: 1. Avatars In 2020 we thought that avatar technology would leap across the uncanny valley and enable us to create true personalisation They haven't. And they really limit the connection to our amazing coaches

@SamCole @weareFitXR Apple nailed avatars. Meta chose to go cartoony and lame. The Vision Pro really feels like your friend is next to you.

We've clearly seen the limits of how people will adopt 500g face bricks Whether that's Galaxy XR, Vision Pro or Quest 3 Before we get any kind of meaningful mainstream adoption we need a fundamental rethink in both hardware and positioning The next wave of lighter, use case specific devices can't come soon enough

@SamCole I might have to check it out sometime soon then. I am a daily LesMills user but it's been bugged and not enough of a workout lately for me anymore. One extra thing, unwanted advice, a vibration strength slider on hits would be so good. I remember FitXR having much less feedback.

People are saying mobile doesn't matter because you discover content in the headset That misses the point Mobile should matter - both for discovery and push notifications from Meta and apps We are spending a lot building our mobile companion app - most devs can't do this
Sam Cole | FitXR@SamCole

Biggest first-time VR user problem nobody talks about: You buy a headset You have to pair it with the Meta app You download the Meta Horizon app Horizon content is everywhere You have no idea what's going on I'm sure it's in progress but we need to separate the experiences Let people find the apps and games they actually want
