Man City lost 17 games last season across all competitions, 9 in the league. What did they do? Backed the manager in the transfer market because even the great Pep Guardiola couldn’t just “make it work”. It’s crazy what can happen when a few key profiles are taken out of a team, isn’t it?

Joe Gomez says his future at Liverpool is uncertain as he enters the final year of his contract this summer. The 28-year-old defender is the club’s current longest-serving player having signed from Charlton Athletic in a £6m deal during Brendan Rodgers’ managerial reign in 2015. “I think anything can happen. I don’t know is the honest answer. I’ve only got a year left so I don’t know but whatever is meant to be will be, I guess. But I’m so grateful to have had this time here at this club.” Gomez came close to leaving two years ago when a fee of £45m was agreed with Newcastle United. It was dependent on Anthony Gordon heading in the opposite direction for £75m, but Newcastle United pulled the plug on those deals when they managed to raise funds by selling other players to satisfy the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules. 🗞️ @JamesPearceLFC

Liverpool are more determined than ever to complete a deal. PSG are open to discussions should the player indicate he wants to leave, reports @AlexisBernard10 🇫🇷🔴
