Monthly apartment rent starts at 2000 shekels and up. A kilo of broiler chicken costs 25 shekels. Frozen foods of all kinds: around 20 shekels per kilo. A kilo of grilled kebab costs 60 shekels. A mobile phone now costs like a bride’s dowry! Phone accessories: crazy prices, a screen protector costs 40 shekels. Tents range in price from 500 to 2000 shekels. Internet cable costs 12 shekels per meter. Local transportation has become as expensive as intercity travel… unbelievable! A three-burner gas stove costs 350 shekels. Fresh livestock meat—if available—costs 300 shekels. That’s just a small part of the high cost of living we’re experiencing.
