Did a bit of personal app work today instead of gamedev. Just felt like getting back to what I'm best at, while learning some SwiftUI stuff. Putting together a simple Todo/list manager thingy. Got the basics in place, and starting on priority flagging. Now back to trying to get Jenkins and Crashlytics to work... #developers #ios #codeinpublic

One thing I wish GDScript had: extensions. I want to add some helper functions to Node like removing all children, etc. so I wouldn't have to keep rewriting the same code in several places. Maybe I'm missing something that could do this with existing GDScript though? #GodotEngine #gdscript #gamedev #indiegame

@x Why am I paying for Premium which allows nice video uploads, but none of my videos upload successfully? They always process to 50% then ERROR. Threads handles it fine, they're simple and small MP4s.

I implemented saving and loading, along with dynamic warp points between maps today for my #gamedev of the day. All in #GodotEngine 4.3 Working really well! No tutorials followed, just did it from the knowledge I've learned so far and the Godot docs. They really are fantastic. No videos cause Twitter fails to process them. #Threads did fine.

Started trying out C# with #GodotEngine. Just converting my GDScripts into C# to see how they differ, and it's not by much. Very interesting...It's given me some ideas on some content I could make. Not a huge fan of the C# syntax right now though, but besides that, it's smooth. I am interested to see if inheritance will come in handy with more complex code though. #gamedev #indiedev

Played a few rounds of co-op Vampire Survivors tonight with my dad & brother. That game makes for the perfect couch co-op experience. Whole family can play cause it's just one stick to play the game. #gaming #games

I just finished a course on #GodotEngine 2D shaders and boy am I impressed! I feel like I have a basic understanding of how they work, what they can do, how they function, and how I can begin creating my own shaders. I might finally be able to do the pixelated text shader I've been trying to do for my game. I can't recommend this course enough for anyone trying to learn Godot 4 2D Shaders. Bonus: I did it all in Godot 4.3 and it works flawlessly! I implemented object pooling in my little 2D survivors-like. I'm not sure how much it's helping performance, but it was a good learning experience about fitting something new into an existing system. I *think* I got all the bugs worked out, and crashes. The game is playing like it did before, so that's good right? lol Think I need to find another way to have more enemies on screen at once though... #GodotEngine #godot #godot4 #gamedev I think the performance hit is coming from all the collision objects on screen, so maybe figuring out a way to disable some is the way to go. Welcome to hear any ideas if you have them!
