Begging the many morons who follow me for some reason and keep insisting Iran struck its own girls school to read this
GeoConfirmed@GeoConfirmed

GeoConfirmed Iran. Statement regarding our posts about the bombing of a girls’ elementary school reportedly resulting in the deaths of over 100 girls. Because many readers still misunderstand our posts or how geolocation verification works, I will explain this as simply as possible. 1) The girls’ school was located next to a military base and according to multiple sources even within the perimeter of that base. However, this does not make it a legitimate target under the Law of Armed Conflict, even if it was within the premises. The school was not in Pakistan or Afghanistan, as some claims suggest. (because the location is GeoConfirmed) The footage is not old. In Iran, schools are open Saturday through Thursday. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Workweek_…). Fact: The school, located in Minab, Hormozgan Province, Iran, was destroyed, based on the footage. Geolocation of the school bombing: x.com/GeoConfirmed/s… - 2) The claim that the explosion was caused by a failed IRGC missile launch has no supporting evidence, at this time (!). The widely circulated footage used to support this theory originates from a location approximately 1,300 km away from the school. It is impossible that a missile failure visible there caused the bombing at such a distance. At this moment, there is no proof that a failed missile launch caused the incident. (See below or x.com/GeoConfirmed/s…) - Using logic. Given the school’s position, next to and possibly integrated into a military facility, the more logical explanation is that the school was mistakenly targeted during an attack on the base. A thorough investigation is required to confirm this assessment, or additional verifiable evidence must emerge to support alternative claims. When conducting analyses, always consider the principle of "Occam’s Razor" (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occam%27s…): "When presented with competing hypotheses about the same prediction and both hypotheses have equal explanatory power, one should prefer the hypothesis that requires the fewest assumptions." In this case, the only “evidence” for the failed IRGC missile launch claim has been proven false. Therefore, there is currently no credible evidence supporting that theory. Reminder: OSINT, and reporting (journalism) in general, is based on the information available at the time an investigation is conducted. Therefore, analyses may change as new footage or evidence emerges.

Dutch scientists: Your headphones are making you gay. A lab in the Netherlands performed tests on numerous headphones and found them to possess endocrine-disrupting chemicals, which mimic hormones, that can cause neurodevelopmental problems and the feminization of males. Leading products from Bose, Panasonic, Samsung and some Sennheiser headphones and other companies are now being pulled off the shelves. Notable on the list of headphones possessing dangerous levels of these chemicals are gaming headphones from Razer. “Daily use – especially during exercise when heat and sweat are present – accelerates this migration directly to the skin.” From the study: Bisfenol A (BPA). Easy to enter your body through your skin when you wear the headphones for long or when you sweat while having them on. Even small quantities can weaken your immune system, cause fertility issues and allergic rashes.

Student loans are a lifetime stealth tax. I am one of the first people to be bestowed the honour of paying £9,000 a year for uni. Although, really, it cost me £14,120 a year, because of my maintenance loan, and the interest charged throughout my degree. I graduated with £42k of debt, in 2015. By the time I was earning enough to actually reduce that debt it was 2022, and I owed £47k. To be clear, I’d been making payments over the years in between but wasn’t paid enough to combat the interest I was being charged. Unlike most other commercial loans, where a higher salary might command a more favourable interest rate, British student finance charges you more interest the better paid you are in order to slow down your ability to pay it off. What’s more the govt can and has unilaterally changed the thresholds where these different interest rates kick in, and the interest rate they’re kindly willing to charge. Generally, RPI+3%. If a commercial lender behaved like that, you’d have a case for breach of contract, and we would call it loan sharking. What’s more, if you were rich enough to pay your fees off up front or shortly thereafter, you’re not liable for any of this interest. When it comes to student loans, the rich pay less. They can opt out of paying 9% of their income to the Student Loans Company in perpetuity. It’s the opposite of how a fair tax system works. For clarity, this hasn’t stopped me living my life. I’m married, have a kid, and own my home. I’ve got a well paid job and will carry on cracking on. I made a choice, agreed to the terms, and am happy with my life. But for many, many others that’s not the case. The most common living arrangement for men in their 30s like me used to be with their spouse, now it’s with their parents. If you wanted to alleviate the cost of living for a downwardly mobile graduate class, you could do a lot worse than wiping their student debt and giving them back 9% of their pay cheque. Would stimulate the economy, address mental health issues, and probably improve the birth rate. Our latest cohort of grads will be repaying into their 60s. And, just a thought, maybe education isn’t a commodity. Maybe it’s a public good.
