Even in the US, I avoid wasting sutures or opening a disposable item unless I'm sure I'm going to use it. I know the money I save for a fundamentally dysfunctional system is probably undetectable but the frame of mind is not.

Med students are supposed to learn all preclinical stuff, pass Step 1, shelf exams, Step 2, and rotate in a dozen specialties. Who can do serious research on top of all this? It’s not realistic. Don’t burn yourself out trying to get a publication. Most applicants don’t have any.

My 55 yo friend who is having postmenopausal bleeding just called me from CVS in TX bc they refused to fill her Rx for misoprostol (used to open the cervix) bc she couldn’t prove she wasn’t having an abortion. She is having surgery in 2 days. This is what total abortion bans do.

USMLE scores have very little to do with being a good doctor. Get the exams behind you then focus on taking great care of your patients. Outstanding patient care defines a great doctor, not board scores.

As an Intern you need to advocate for the Med Students on your service. No one on the team remembers how tricky it can be better than you. 1. Protect their study time 2. Involve them in patient care (and procedures) 3. Teach them as much as you can! 4. Never permit mistreatment!
