आज लोकसभा में बहुत अजीब दृश्य दिखा। नारी शक्ति वंदन अधिनियम के लिए जरूरी संविधान संशोधन बिल को कांग्रेस, TMC, DMK और समाजवादी पार्टी ने पारित नहीं होने दिया। महिलाओं को 33% आरक्षण देने के बिल को गिरा देना, उसका उत्साह मनाना और जयनाद करना सचमुच निंदनीय और कल्पना से परे है। अब देश की महिलाओं को लोकसभा और विधानसभा में 33% आरक्षण, जो उनका अधिकार था, वह नहीं मिल पाएगा। कांग्रेस और उसके सहयोगियों ने यह पहली बार नहीं किया, बल्कि बार-बार किया है। उनकी यह सोच न महिलाओं के हित में है और न देश के। मैं उन्हें बताना चाहता हूँ कि नारी शक्ति के अपमान की यह बात यहाँ नहीं रुकेगी, दूर तक जाएगी। विपक्ष को ‘महिलाओं का आक्रोश’ न सिर्फ 2029 लोकसभा चुनाव में, बल्कि हर स्तर, हर चुनाव और हर स्थान पर झेलना पड़ेगा।

Being a woman, I am against women’s reservation bill. No one should be given reservation in India on the basis of caste, religion, gender or any other identity. People should be selected purely on the basis of MERIT.

Today when I woke up, my entire Twitter feed was crying over the rejection of the Women’s Reservation Bill. Everyone is blaming everyone. Politicians shouting, media screaming, blaming each other. No one even knows whom to hold accountable. Just frustration, noise, and outrage. And here I am, thinking — wow, what a day. The bill got rejected in Parliament.
