I know there are still a proportion of patients that receive lung resections from non-thoracic surgeons in areas/smaller hospitals without that specialty.

I learned about this trial today: no mandatory tissue confirmation of cancer, NGS testing or invasive mediastinal staging, all stage I and II eligible. Is this for real?? How do we justify this?? What am i missing? @BrendonStilesMD @jdoningtonmd @LindaMThoracic @maraantonoff

@Daniela_Molena @BrendonStilesMD @jdoningtonmd @LindaMThoracic @maraantonoff Tissue diagnosis IS required for Pac4, Additionally, the most common type of recurrence for ALL Stage I NSCLC patients who receive surgery or SBRT, is NOT local, but regional or distant, so yes this trial is both ethical and necessary to find ways to improve a systemic disease.
