New blog post: The third wave of American philanthropy Hundreds of billions of dollars in new philanthropic capital will soon become liquid. The OpenAI Foundation holds 26% of OpenAI, worth about $220B at today’s valuation. Anthropic’s seven co-founders have pledged to give away 80% of their wealth and have instituted the most aggressive donor matching program for employees in tech history. How much does this all add up to? And how meaningful is that in the context of philanthropy today? I was doing some simple napkin math to wrap my head around the scale of what’s coming, and radicalized myself in the process. I had dramatically underappreciated the scale of the philanthropic capital that’s about to become available and the corresponding gap in talent and organizations that will be needed to make the most of it. Just understood what JEPA is from this amazing video (waiting for part - 2 btw) and I agree to Yann Le Cunn statement - "If you are interested in human-level AI, don't work on LLMs." I mean if you are aware about JEPA it's almost obvious just from a high level explaination comparison between the approaches. what's happening here ?

1. I never said LLMs were not useful. They are, particularly with all the bells and whistles that are being added to them. I use them. 2. A robot-rich future can't be built with AIs that don't understand the physical world and don't anticipate the consequences of their actions. And LLMs really don't. 3. The future in the cartoon looks pretty dystopian TBH, but even a non-dystopian version will require world models and zero-shot planning abilities. 4. I rarely wear a suit and absolutely never wear a tie. 5. I would never ever place a coffee mug on top of a piece equipment. 6. I hope I'll look this young in 2032.
