Coming up! Alastair's talk will focus on the process of remembering & recalling ideas about the ancient world, particularly his own experiences of learning and then teaching. He will also consider more generally how this premodern world is remembered & then used by society today.

@sandbclassics I was talking to an Iranian the other day who refused to accept that Alexander was a Greek invader. He was most insistent he was Iranian. Was he taught this or was it a case of wish-fulfilment?

There is only a week to go before Martin Charlesworth delights us with "Some Talk of Alexander." Martin taught at KGV College and was also Director of the British Institute for Persian Studies in Iran. Doors open at 6.15pm for a 7pm start. We can't wait!
