Tolashe defends herself, plays voice note of former domestic worker rejecting 'plot'
Minister of Social Development Sisisi Tolashe has pushed back against mounting allegations, claiming her former domestic worker refused to be drawn into what she describes as a coordinated campaign against her.
Speaking in Parliament, Tolashe played a voice note in which her former domestic worker, Phindile Ntethe, allegedly rejects attempts to involve her in legal action against the minister.
According to Tolashe, Ntethe can be heard in the recording refusing to cooperate with efforts by former departmental spokesperson Lumka Oliphant and former chief of staff Zanele Simmons to take the minister to court.
The minister's defence comes amid an escalating public fallout between her and Oliphant, whom she has accused of orchestrating a "misinformation campaign" following her dismissal from the Department of Social Development.
In the leaked audio, Ntethe "refused to be coerced" into participating in the alleged plot, bolstering Tolashe's claim that attempts are being made to undermine her.
The dispute forms part of a broader controversy surrounding Tolashe, who is facing multiple allegations, including claims of misconduct and misuse of departmental resources allegations she has repeatedly denied.

Breaking news
Police Raid Former Home of MP Fadiel Adams in Mitchells Plain
A group of armed police officers allegedly stormed a property in Westridge, Mitchells Plain, early on Saturday morning in search of National Coloured Congress (NCC) leader and MP Fadiel Adams, his party has claimed.
According to a statement from the NCC, approximately 15 officers entered the home around 4am. Adams, who is said to have moved out of the property two months ago, was not present. The current occupants a woman and her small children were reportedly harassed during the operation.
The party alleges that the officers, some wearing balaclavas, pointed firearms at the residents, forcibly photographed their ID documents, refused to identify themselves, and did not produce a search warrant or arrest warrant. A 12-year-old boy was allegedly assaulted, leaving family members traumatised.
Adams has described the incident as unlawful and is planning to open criminal charges, including intimidation, against the officers involved and a senior SAPS official. The NCC has called it an attempted kidnapping and part of an ongoing feud linked to Adams' public allegations of corruption within police ranks. He is scheduled to hold a press conference on Sunday at Parliament.
MDN News reached out to the South African Police Service (SAPS) for comment, but no response has been received at the time of publication. The incident remains under development.
Adams, founder of the NCC and a member of Parliament's Police Portfolio Committee, has been vocal in recent months about alleged misconduct in law enforcement and municipal matters in Cape Town.

♦️Breaking News♦️
The legal representatives of President and Commander-in-Chief, @Julius_S_Malema, have issued a formal legal demand against Ngizwe Mchunu following statements made during an interview on 28 April 2026 and subsequently circulated on social media platforms.
Ngizwe Mchunu falsely suggests that Mr Malema received R60 million from Nigerian drug dealers, is involved in protecting illegal immigrants for political benefit, and is engaged in corrupt and criminal conduct.
These remarks are untrue, malicious, and damaging to his reputation as a Member of Parliament and political leader.
We demand a retraction, public apology, press statement, and R1,000,000 in damages within 24 hours, failing which legal action may be instituted.

@ZungulaVuyo As an MP, speak responsibly on issues don’t inflame tensions without facts.
Blaming groups without evidence only divides us. Even António Guterres has raised concerns about xenophobia.
South Africans need solutions, not rhetoric.
English

There is really a sinister agenda to flood South Africa with uncontrolled migration. Having the UN SG say there are xenophobic attacks in SA whereas no foreigner has been hospitalised or killed exposes this agenda.
How many black South African kids have died from eating foods sold by foreigners?
How many black South Africans have been raped and killed by foreigners involved in illegal mining.
Silence from the UN : Clearly the lives of black South Africans doesn’t matter to them.
