This is Sakhile Ntsele, a 19-year-old who was found with a cache of homemade firearms and seven improvised explosive devices at his home in south London. Authorities revealed that Ntsele had become fixated on weapons, spending hours watching online videos on how to build firearms and create explosives from his bedroom. Detective Inspector Raymond Sekalongo stated that while it is unclear what Ntsele ultimately intended, the weapons he produced had the potential to cause serious harm. The case highlights how easily young people can access dangerous content online and be influenced into criminal activity. Ntsele pleaded guilty to possession of ammunition without a certificate and five counts of possession of a firearm without a certificate. After an 11-day trial, he was also found guilty of eight counts of making explosive substances for unlawful purposes. He has been sentenced to four years in prison and will remain under an extended licence for five years after his release.

ANC STATEMENT ON CITY OF CAPE TOWN’S LAND AUCTION 🚨🚨🚨 The ANC Caucus condemns the DA - led City of Cape Town’s intention to continue with the planned auction of 50 pieces of well-located land tomorrow, 26 February 2026 at 12h00. The auction was going to be held at the Cape Town stadium but will now happen online at 12h00. The ANC Caucus says the battle to stop the DA City of Cape Town selling public land to foreigners, which could be used for housing and land redistribution, will continue. While the housing waiting list stands at over 400 000, the City continues to sell municipal land which could be used for both social and affordable housing, to the highest bidder. To make matters worse the City has invited foreign nationals, both individuals and companies, to participate in the auction. This will not only dispose of strategic government land and buildings to foreigners, but given the strength of various foreign currencies, totally outprice South African buyers. This will result in property prices in Cape Town escalating even more making land and housing simply unaffordable to the vast majority of citizens.
