Newcastle women refused to be silenced. Great thanks to @HistoriaHWA and @novelcarolyn for this highly insightful - and really lovely - interview.
Historia – the HWA@HistoriaHWA

In the 1640s "women, of necessity, had extraordinary freedoms," says @adberginwriter, author of The Wicked of the Earth. "Accusations of witchcraft were a uniquely effective method of silencing women." Read his interview with @novelcarolyn in Historia at historiamag.com/historia-inter…

In her startling new movie “Witches,” Elizabeth Sankey draws a line from witch trials to “The Wizard of Oz” to postpartum moms. “This was a film made by a mad woman,” she says. trib.al/0EN3xQ6

@sankles @mubi Hi Elizabeth congratulations on Witches! I am so looking forward to watching it. Will there be a dvd release? Cinema release? I'm asking because I can't access it via Mubi despite a long time trying. Thanks.

"Seeing the witches really embrace their power and for the film not to end with them having that stripped away, is just so refreshing." For @AnOtherMagazine I spoke to @sankles about the films that inspired her brilliant, harrowing new documentary Witches anothermag.com/design-living/…
